Amosa’s Pot Bet Bluff Tell
Thursday, January 28th, 2010On 2 months 2 million this week, there was finally some decent poker online play showed. The guys had a 36-hour lockdown where they would do nothing but eat sleep and play poker online. They could not leave the confines of the “war room” with exception to use the bathroom and walk around their house for a few minutes.
The session was a success. The team made about $400,000 in that 36-hour period.
While this sounds amazing, before the upswing we must recognize that it was prefaced by some nasty beats and some big losses.
Krantz, one of the biggest players and accordingly the poker player with the highest variance, spent a lot of time losing in a high stakes match against David Peat (Viffer and Amosa are his online handles).
After what could have been hours of getting completely dominated and reloading (even borrowing $80,000 from a housemate transfer) Krantz finally found Amosa’s tell and he exploited it to the max.
Krantz noticed that every time Amosa bet the pot, he was bluffing. Apparently he did not realize what that he had this huge tell, because he stacked off about $350,000 to Krantz in he session, who at times was making very light calls with King high, or bottom pair.
The lesson to be learned from this is that even if you are losing, you have to remain focused and try to find whatever holes your opponent shows you at the casino, and exploit them. Sometimes players unconsciously take longer amounts of time to do certain plays, or short ones to do others. Keep an keen eye on their every move, and you should be able to find a weakness.
